Acupuncture

Your acupuncture session…

During your acupuncture session you will be immersed in a calming environment designed to promote relaxation and healing. If it is winter we will use warm towels to keep you comfortable. Your pulse may be taken and tongue observed to assess for diagnosis.

We will begin by discussing your health concern and any specific conditions you would like to address. You will then be asked to lie down on a treatment table in a quiet room. We may use thin needles inserted into specific points on your body to help restore the flow of energy. You may feel a slight tingling sensation or a dull ache at the insertion site. Once all the needles are in place, you will rest for about 15-20-30 minutes depending on your diagnosis. The pins will then be removed. It is normal to feel relaxed or even energised after the session. Multiple sessions may be recommended for best results depending on your condition.

A little more on the benefits of acupuncture…

Pain Management: Acupuncture has shown remarkable efficacy in alleviating chronic pain conditions such as back pain, migraines, arthritis, and fibromyalgia. By stimulating the release of endorphins and activating the body's natural painkillers, acupuncture can provide significant relief and improve overall quality of life.

Stress Reduction: Acupuncture is known for its ability to promote relaxation and reduce stress levels. By targeting specific acupuncture points associated with stress and anxiety, the treatment helps regulate the body's stress response, leading to improved emotional well-being and mental clarity.

Enhanced Sleep Quality: Many individuals struggle with sleep disorders and insomnia. Acupuncture has been found to regulate sleep patterns by balancing energy flow and addressing underlying imbalances that may disrupt sleep. This natural approach can result in better sleep quality and improved daytime functioning.

Immune Function: Acupuncture can enhance immune system function by increasing the production of white blood cells, enhancing the body's defence mechanisms against infections and diseases. Regular acupuncture sessions can strengthen overall immunity and promote general well-being.

Mental Health Support: Acupuncture is increasingly recognised as a valuable adjunctive therapy for mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). By regulating neurotransmitters and promoting relaxation, acupuncture can help restore emotional balance and improve overall mental health.
